I think viral marketing can be a very useful marketing tool when used right. Cloverfield for example had a very clever marketing campaign. In 2012′s case, it was simply the stupidy of the audience that believed the world was really going to end. But as I said before, a good viral marketing campaign can be a cost effective way of a film being advertised.
